Shilpa + Blake | Engagement Photo Shoot at SF Art Institute and Fort Mason

Shilpa and Blake are a wonderful couple that we had the opportunity to photograph a couple weeks ago! What was best is that they wanted their dog to be a part of the shoot too! I absolutely love dogs and definitely encourage couples to include their animals in their e-sessions. Thanks to Shilpa’s parents for hanging out at the shoot to take care of their pup when he was not in the shot.

We met at the San Francisco Art Institute which is a small art school near Lombard Street. They have a cute little courtyard with a fountain and pillars, as well as, a magnificent view of the city from their roof top. It was a perfectly sunny day and Shilpa’s dress was a great compliment to the weather. We did two outfits in total so we could get both formal and casual type photos. In both outfits we strived for more natural shots and easy going poses that reflect the couple’s personalities.

For the second spot we went to Fort Mason. This turned out to be a gold mine of shot opportunities, but ones that are not easily apparent. Using some of the different textures, and geometric shapes I noticed while walking around, we were able to create some very nice images that scream San Francisco, but are also classic, in good taste, and vintagely elegant all at the same time. I don’t know if vintagely is a word but I just invented it! 🙂

Shilpa and Blake’s wedding in San Francisco at the Metreon City View will be a ton of fun! We cannot wait to share more this Fall. In the meantime, come back and check our blog often as we will be shooting nearly everyday for the next several months!
