Karan + Rajan | Bay Area Sikh Highlights Video

Thousands of people watched Karan and Rajan’s Same Day Edit Highlights Reel we posted in April. We showed it at their reception in front of 800 guests and had amazing response from everyone. The portion that we had yet to include was the reception since we were showing it at the reception. Now that their feature film has been completed we have now created their final highlights reel!

Our highlights reels are a recap of the entire wedding day or multiple days in some cases. We included the most important, most touching, and most exciting shots to create a short film that is easy and fun to watch. We used a variety of songs that the bride and groom chose to reflect their personalities and style. I really like the mix of American and Indian music as it really expresses how we like to hold onto our roots but we also live in the US where we hear and grow to love a lot of American music.

Countless hours go into editing these highlights reels because we want them to be perfect. Every shot and every frame needs to mean something and carry the story forward. While we like the long form documentary as it shows the entire ceremony and reception, the reality is that it will be watched not as frequently as a short film such as this. That is why we create packages so our clients can have the best of both worlds when it comes to documenting an event like a “videographer”, but also creating a meaningful film like a “cinematographer”.

We hope you enjoy their highlights and if your internet is slow we recommend hitting “play” then “pause”, wait for it to load, then hit “play” again.

Sikh Wedding Same Day Edit

Last week was a fun one! We spent five days with our lucky couple and photographed and filmed all their events including the Bride’s Mehndi night, the Bride and Groom’s respective Maiyan ceremonies, the Bride’s Choora ceremony, as well as, both their Sangeet nights! The fourth day was the wedding at the San Jose Gurudwara, followed by their reception on the final day at the Scottish Rite Center in Oakland, CA. This was the most expansive project we have ever tackled. With so many events over so many days, with a lot of team members covering these events, it was no easy task. I am so excited that we pulled it off and have this amazing same day edit to show for it!

Each night we had to back up our memory cards and encode the video files for editing. We had to play close attention to organization as multiple cameras were used at multiple events. Each night we would rough cut some of our selections but the real editing was basically done Saturday night after the ceremony and was completed just an hour or so before we showed the edit live in front of about 700 guests on two projectors.

For the final highlights we will add the reception portion to this film and will also be doing a long form video of all the events and wedding ceremony and reception.

If you would like a same day edit of your Indian wedding in the San Francisco Bay Area give us a call! We really enjoy the satisfaction of sharing what we capture with our audience immediately after the event and it is great entertainment for your guests!

Sit back and enjoy our edit! We suggest you hit “play”, then “pause” to let it load and then hit “play” again if you have a slower internet connection.

Neetu and Amit | Hindu Wedding Same Day Edit at Half Moon Bay

What an amazing weekend we just had! We worked with an awesome couple for their two day event that started with a Sangeet on Friday and then a wedding and reception on Saturday! The Sangeet on Friday was held at the bride’s parents house in Fairfield, CA. The next day we started shoot at 7am at the Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay where the bride got ready. Another two of our team members met the groom and his family at a house in San Francisco to capture him getting ready

Their beautiful traditional Hindu ceremony was at Golf Links, which is next door to the Ritz Carlton. After the ceremony we all packed up and headed over to San Francisco Fairmont where the reception  was held.

We edited together this entire video in about 4 hours. During that time we were also backing up the memory cards, encoding footage to be edited, and splicing the day before shots as well. It was definitely a challenge since we had to switch venues after the ceremony. If we did not have to do that, it would have been easily an hour or more of editing so we could have added more shots, done more color corrections, and possibly could have added some of the reception. All in all we are very pleased with how this same day edit turned out and all the guests, including the bride and groom loved it!

A same day edit is the perfect way to entertain your guests and have everyone relive the long day of events. We are super excited to share with your their gorgeous wedding photos in just a few weeks!

Aarti and Rasesh | Same Day Edit

What an amazing three day wedding this was this past weekend! Aarti and Rasesh were truly an amazing couple to work with and we were so excited to be a part of their wedding weekend. These are two of the nicest people I have ever met and are fun to photograph and film. Aarti’s parents, sisters, and friends and family were also so nice that we just had to do something special for them!

We decided that a same day edit may be the best way for us to say thanks to them and would also give us some practice doing them for future weddings. We have done same day slide shows and have done love story videos that include same day edit portions, but never a video of the entire event cut together the same day.

For those who don’t know, a same day edit is where you film, edit, and present the wedding highlights reel at the wedding reception, so everyone in attendance can watch the story we created that day! It is definitely fun to see people’s reaction to the shots, camera work, lighting, and pacing to the music. We make videos that are more filmic than your average wedding video and we really enjoy seeing our work on the big screen in front of the audience that cares most about the film since they all star in it!

The challenges of the same day edit is that you have to shoot, import the footage, organize the shots, digitize the shots, cut to the music, do color correction and transitions, and finally some titles before exporting out to a Quicktime file. Then  you have to hook up a laptop to the projector and test the sound, image size, sharpness, and color so that when it presents it looks perfect! Maybe this does not sound that hard but it all has to be completed in under five hours or less! This means you have to be critically accurate in every phase of production. You can’t over shoot, over edit, or over think anything. A storyboard of shots helps and knowing what song will be used prior to editing will help in choosing the pacing style etc.

We are so happy to announce that everyone absolutely this Hindu wedding highlights same day edit at the wedding and we are so thrilled to present to you here! We did not do any additional color correcting or editing to this same day edit and as we are showing it here is how it looked on the day of the wedding! I used shots from all three days of the events to show a progression of events and how beautiful Aarti looked each of those days.

We hope you enjoy this same day edit!
