Kamaldeep’s Choora Ceremony

Kamaldeep had her Choora ceremony the day before the wedding at her home in Fremont, CA. Our friends at R&R Event Rentals beautifully decorated Kamaldeep’s living room with very nice decor, making the perfect backdrop for the Choora ceremony.

In this ceremony the bride’s uncles place the wedding bangles on the bride. These bangles signify marriage and fidelity and are an important part of a Sikh bride’s attire. They dip the bangles in milk for purity but also as a sign of good health and fortune to come to the bride in her married life.

These moments can be very emotional and somewhat sad, because essentially the family is “giving away the bride”. They are preparing her to go from their house and enter into the groom’s family’s house. During this time, it is common for the bride to cry as it is becoming “very real” that she is getting married and leaving her house where she has been her entire life.
