It’s hard to remember now but several years ago I met Jay. He was referred to me by another videographer for a shoot I had and that is how we met. He was a super nice guy and easy to work with so we kept working with each other over the years. Jay has helped me shoot several weddings, and has been a great loyal shooter for Wedding Documentary probably longer than anyone else that works for us.
Adrienne has been his girlfriend for as long we have known Jay. They have been together more than ten years! We always would ask Jay when he was going to get married and then finally he proposed in 2014. Adrienne and Jay decided to have their wedding in Santa Cruz where they live, at Santa Cruz Art and History Museum. This centrally located venue was the perfect spot for their wedding and reception that included their closest friends and family.
We arrived to shoot the space as the couple was getting ready at Hotel Paradox down the street. When Adrienne was ready, she waited in San Lorenzo park with her bridesmaids to do the first look with Jay. When he saw her it was an emotional moment. They both were so excited to be getting married that day and were really ecstatic to see each other.
Before heading back to the venue, I did all their family formals and bridal party photos to take advantage of the park atmosphere. We then headed back as a group to the venue where guests were now arriving and the ceremony was about to start.
Adrienne and Jay’s wedding ceremony at the Museum in Santa Cruz was very personal. Their officiant told stories of their travels and their journey together as a couple. There were readings from friend and family, as well as, a song, and then really awesome vows that the couple told one another before they exchanged rings and had their first kiss.
The entire theme of the wedding was “A Night at the Movies”. Fitting since Jay is a filmmaker and they both enjoy watching films together. Other movie touches included a popcorn machine and the table numbers were movie titles.
Adrienne and Jay had an awesome entrance to their reception in which they both danced their way in. After some great speeches, everyone enjoyed a nice dinner before heading inside for the cake cutting, formal dances, and then the dance floor opened up with a wide variety of music that spanned the generations of tunes that everyone enjoyed!
It really is special when one of our ties the knot, and more importantly, asks us to be there to capture these very special and unforgettable moments for them. We really value Jay as a person and an excellent videographer with a great eye and awesome attitude. We have worked many sixteen hour days together in extreme heat, with lots of things going on, to the point where I get really hyper and throw lots of directions out but he always remains calm and focused and helps ground me.
We wish Adrienne and Jay the best and look forward to seeing their journey together blossom!
