We love to travel outside the Bay Area for weddings so we were super excited when Nirav and Bhumika invited us to photograph their wedding down in Costa Mesa at the Hilton this winter. We shot Nirav’s sister’s wedding last summer and had a great time with their family. They are very down to earth and genuinely nice people. They are philosophical and kind and so great to be around. Bhumika is so sweet and is so much to talk to. She has a great personality and we had so much fun spending almost a week with them to capture their traditional Hindu wedding.
Dolled by Lulu is one of our favorite makeup artists down in the LA area. She is amazing and really helps us get the shots we are looking for. We highly recommend her for hair and makeup for Indian weddings and we look forward to working with her lots more whenever we are in the area. She made Bhumika look fabulous and we like shooting this boudoir/fashion type shots before the bride puts on her lengha.
Once the bride and groom were dressed we headed downstairs for a quick first-look. We did a few shots before the groom had to go start his Baraat. Nirav came in on a red C7 Stingray Corvette (one of my favorite cars) and it was a huge party in the parking lot for about an hour. When he arrived at the entrance he was blessed by Bhumika’s mother and then walked to the Mandap.
The ceremony was unique because the colors were blue, silver, and white instead of the typical red, cream, and gold. I really enjoyed the change! After the ceremony was over there was a lunch and then Vidai ceremony where the bride leaves and says goodbye to her family. During the break in the
During the break in the day, we prepared for the reception and had an awesome photo shoot with the couple prior to their grand entrance. We shot all their amazing details including epic fruit table! We love fruit. It’s delicious and fun to photograph!
The reception included lots of great speeches so we wanted to show all the great reaction shots that we get when that is happening. Dinner and dancing continued for the rest of the night and we finally concluded after about 16-18 hours of shooting!
We hope you enjoy this beautiful wedding we had the pleasure of capturing down in Costa Mesa and we hope you come back to check out some of our future work!
