The night before the wedding Priya had an event for her Choora ceremony and Jaago. This is the event where traditionally the bride receives the bridal bracelets from her uncles and women gather to sing songs. After which, the Jaago begins where everyone gathers in celebration announcing the wedding that is to follow the next day. In the villages, this is how they invite everyone to the wedding. While they don’t invite people to weddings like this in the USA, it is still a tradition that is a lot of fun and standard for all Punjabi weddings, both Sikh and Hindu.
