Deepali + Rajesh had an intimate Hindu wedding nestled in the hills of Los Gatos in the Santa Cruz Mountains. We got the call just a couple weeks before their big day and were asked to shoot their intimate event that would take place at the private residence, which turned out to be 15 minutes away from our studio.
I love shooting in nature and this spot is about as far as you can get, while still being sort of close to everything. I flew my drone high above the redwood trees to get this first shot of the environment that surrounded the venue.
Among the trees it is very dark, so we used off camera flash for the portraits, as well as, Baraat, to capture interesting light, in an otherwise very dark place. The mandap, although covered with small lights which helped a lot, also needed a lot of off camera flash, because the ceremony took place at night. It was very cold but fortunately, there were some heaters!
After the ceremony, the bride and groom literally had only one minute to get a portrait taken before they went to change. From there, we literally had only one minute, actually only enough time to capture the bride alone and not even a portrait of them together before they were whisked off to the dance floor for the first dance.
With that, our coverage was up, and in a few short hours, we covered an entire event that normally can span an entire day!
