Navdeep Jaago | Sakoon Fremont

This post is for the bride’s side Ladies Sangeet/Jaago that was held at Sakoon Banquet Hall in Fremont, CA.

This Punjabi wedding lasted over six days and included several events for both the bride and groom sides. Wedding Documentary captured all their events including both photo and cinema and even made a next-day edit to have played at their reception.

A Ladies Sangeet usually involves a period of time for guests to arrive and have appetizers. Aunties of the bride then gather on the stage to sing traditional songs about marriage. Once that is concluded, the family gathers outside the hall to do the “Jaago” (literally meaning “wake up”) in which they will dance with pots on their heads filled with candles/lights. This lasts for about 30 minutes or so and then open dancing continues for the rest of the night and the dinner buffet opens up.

For this event, the bride also did her “Choora ceremony” at this event as well since all her closest family was there and it was a great way to include everyone rather than do it at home with fewer family members present.

The event is a lot of fun and a great way for the bride’s family to have a party together before mingling with the groom’s family for the remaining events during the wedding celebrations. The groom also held his very own Sangeet as well at another location nearby. Our team also captured that event so we could include his events in their final films.
