The Kurmai ceremony is the formal engagement ceremony between a bride and groom that takes place before the Sikh wedding ceremony. It is usually done at home and mostly revolves around the groom’s family doing a prayer. Sometimes the bride’s side comes to the event and sometimes not.
In this case, since the bride was from another state, the bride’s family came to the Kurmai ceremony to get acquainted with one another and also get these awesome photos!
It was a very hot summer day but the shade in the backyard was perfect for the ceremony. After the ceremony we took the couple around the neighborhood for a quick photoshoot. Using off camera flash we were able to fill in shadows and make a more pleasing look, as well as, create dynamic shots using the flash as a backlight.
We are available to photograph and film Kurmai ceremonies among several other types of Sikh wedding pre events and weddings.
