We recently did an amazing engagement session with Aashima and Chirga at two of my favorite locations in Saratoga, Villa Montalvo and Hakone Japanese Gardens. Both are exclusive and beautiful grounds that are so fun to shoot at!
Although it was raining we kept the shoot and decided to use the rain to our advantage. The rain actually helped the romantic mood we were going for and because it was raining there were less people at these sites thus preventing distracting background elements.
Aashima wore a beautiful Sari while Chirag wore a handsome suit. We got a variety of shots under the cover of the villa before our couple ventured out into the rain with an umbrella. Quickly I was having them get wet with all my crazy ideas but they seemed to love it which was great for our images!
We headed down the street to Hakone Gardens for the next portion of our shoot. There the rain seemed to be coming down harder and the safety of overhangs was minimal. There the bride and groom embraced the water and went full force with it as we quickly shot as many images as we could. At the tea house we created some of our favorite images including the one through the arches and the reflection shots. All this was done on the fly and nothing was conceived before hand. That is how we tend to shoot. Depending on where we are and what we “see”, we will create images that speak to us and we hope our clients will love it too.
Aashima and Chirag have great smiles and warm personalities. They were so fun to hang out with and we cannot wait for their summer wedding which will definitely have some warmer weather! We ended our shoot with our bride and groom jumping in puddles! Total awesome sauce! 🙂
