It is May, which is by far our most favorite month of the year! We have a few reasons, like May has beautiful Spring weather, there are great holidays like Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, and my Birthday!!! Haha!
In all seriousness, we are really looking forward to Manpreet and Bhollo’s wedding coming up at the end of the month in Fairfax Virginia! They are having a multiple day Sikh wedding with some events even starting here in California! Their reception will also be the week after their wedding and it will be held in Sacramento, CA.
For their engagement session in sunny Santa Cruz, CA we wanted to get some shots in town, some vintage feeling shots out in the country, and end up at the beach for sunset. We met up downtown and walked the streets hitting spots that I know really well but never have shot at. By and large most of our sessions take place in San Francisco so it was great to do something different and be able to get a variety of images using “whatever we thought was cool in the moment”. Freestyle shooting like this is my favorite way to do an engagement session now because it has pushed me to see things differently and to really be able to learn how to “work a scene from multiple angles”.
Manpreet is awesome at posing and really knows how to work it for the camera so that was a ton of fun! Bhollo also is super easy to photograph and together they are a dynamic power couple that are amazing together! I especially love all the candid shots that we have of them sitting together, walking, and just hanging out!
After our mix of high energy and fashion forward type shots we got all rustic with our ranch shoot! The plaid was a great choice for this location and I really tailored the post processing to the look and feel of the location, the clothing, and the personalities of the couple. We didn’t want the sun to go down too quick so we headed to the beach after just as it was going down to capture some images at Natural Bridges State Beach.
We know we are about to have an amazing experience with these two towards the end of the month and can’t wait to share their photos and films later this summer!
