A couple weeks ago we had the pleasure of photographing Nandini and Karthik’s Tamilian engagement ceremony at the historic Firehouse 8 in the Russian Hill district of San Francisco. The engagement ceremony consisted of some Pooja’s, as well as, some gift exchanges between the two families. One of the gifts is a Sari that is given to the bride. The bride then goes to change into the sari before coming back to the ceremonies conducted by the Pandit (Priest).
All of the people at the event were fun, nice, and easy to photograph. We had a good time catching plenty of candid shots and capturing people in their element. I loved the vintage feel of Firehouse 8 and all the exposed brick. To make use of it I captured a lot of portraits with the bride and groom in front of the brick work.
Food was provided by a caterer called Curryous and there was lots of dancing after the religious ceremonies for guests to enjoy. All in all it was a fun-filled day time event and we are super excited for Nandini and Karthik. We hope you enjoy some of our favorite images below!
