Suki and Pavan are an awesome couple and they chose Napa for their engagement session! One of best places for engagement photo shoots in Napa is Castello di Amorosa. This amazing castle resembles a real European castle and is the perfect backdrop for engagement sessions.
We had the pleasure of getting to know them during the shoot, and also giving them great posing tips that would ultimately help them on their wedding day! Engagement photo shoots are like test runs where we get to go through various poses and looks. Very quickly we learn the couples likes and dislikes, and how they interact with each other. We take their personalities and apply it to poses and images that we think will most appeal to them, while also be creative and enjoyable for us to create.
Two things we love to have during our engagement photo shoots is 1.) good light and 2.) good texture. Good light is important because that sets the mood and the exposure for the scene. We can make images dramatic, dreamy, soft, hard, etc all based on the light. We like to play with light and do various looks within the same space, but under the various lighting conditions.
Good texture is important because that is what “we feel” when we look at image. There are soft textures, rough textures, and everything in between. We can increase and decrease texture to also create different emotions and feelings about an image. For example, in this location, we can increase the contrast, thereby, creating more bold and vibrant and detailed looks. We may lower texture for a beauty shot to make the skin appear softer and to show the personality of a subject as more gentle.
