Reina and Shan live in Texas but decided to have their traditional Hindu wedding in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. They chose the brand new resort Generations which is next door to the beautiful El Dorado Hotel. For the events they had friends and family fly down from all over the world to celebrate their special day and also get in a little vacation as well.
This Gujarati couple was so sweet and so amazing to work with over the course of the week! We came down early and got to enjoy Margaritas and get to know them and their families. We filmed all their pre events, including the arrival of their friends and family, Mehndi, Sangeet party, wedding, and their reception! We even included a photo shoot on the beach.
According to the bride and groom, they searched through the portfolios of many photographers and cinematographers before coming to the conclusion that “they had to have us for their destination wedding in Mexico”! Over the phone we hit it off with the bride and groom and they booked us for their Indian wedding that week!
We booked our tickets and packed our bags and headed down to Mexico to create this breathtaking film. We wanted it to be a cinematic edit, meaning we tell a story of their wedding while using voiceovers to tell a story. We include lots of filmic style shots and techniques such as timelapses and moving camera shots to help tell the story. We also interviewed the couple to get more sound bytes which tells their story as a couple.
Although a traditional wedding film has been the norm for many years, the fact is, shorter, cinematic films are much more entertaining and emotional to watch. Instead of merely showing what happened, they take the viewer on a filmic journey that illustrates all the things that family and friends say during speeches. It is way more compelling and interesting to watch. We made sure to include all the most crucial moments of the ceremony and reception but just make it interesting!
We love photographing and filming Indian destination weddings for so many reasons. First, we love meeting new people and learning about our couple’s stories. We like staying at the same hotel and getting to know their friends and family, and becoming more of a guest than just a vendor. We enjoy telling stories through our lens and making films that we would want to watch and share and relive over and over again.
We like to include the local culture, vibe, and history into our films. We want to showcase the country, venue, and their people in the best light. We love the wonderful memories we get to capture and share with our couples so that they can relive these beautiful moments for the rest of their lives.
For this reason, making films is such an honor for us. We hope you enjoy our latest work filmed in the stunning Riviera Maya!
