Gurudwara Bangla Sahib is a Sikh Gurudwara(Temple) in Connaught Place, Delhi. It is a magnificent white marble masterpiece and has a golden dome with a beautifully sculpted bronze cupola and a tall flagpole called Nishan Sahib. Wide Angle lenses capture this magnificent work of art beautifully!
Majority of the weddings we shoot are Sikh Punjabi Weddings, so during our visit to Delhi, we had to make sure and visit the beautiful Gurudwara Bangla Sahib.
Gurdwara Bangla Sahib was originally a Bungalow that belonged to Raja Jai Singh, an Indian ruler in the seventeenth century, and was known as Jaisinghpura Palace.
As you enter the main hall, one can hear the soothing sounds of prayers and religious hymns. This is the main temple building that houses the Guru Granth Sahib. Singers sing verses from the Holy Book throughout the day.
The gurudwara has a holy pond(Sarovar) that sits in the middle of the complex and is believed to have healing properties. The reflection of the building on the pond makes for beautiful images. It is also home to many different types of fishes.
Entry is free and the temple is open 24 hours a day so you can visit anytime. Make sure you have a headscarf to cover your head. It is a must-see for a tranquil and spiritual experience.
