Dhar planned a surprise proposal on Christmas Eve 2019 at Christmas in the Park in downtown San Jose. We had previously photographed his sister’s wedding and she and her husband pre-setup the balloons that said “Marry Me” on them while we waited for Alexis and Dhar to arrive.
When the couple arrived a crowd had gathered in anticipation to see if she would say “yes”! As Dhar and Alexis walked up, we were hiding behind things capturing candid images and shooting video as they approached the balloons. Once we could tell Alexis had seen the balloons and was so surprised, we could come out a little more to capture some more images up close of him Dar getting down on one knee and asking for her hand in marriage!
Of course, she said “YES”! They then popped a bottle of champagne and we took some images around the park. It then started to rain a bit at the tail end of the shoot but we stayed under some trees and finally ended with some shots in front of the Christmas tree at Il Fornaio across the street.
