Ambika and Vikas wanted to have their wedding at a unique location with a lot of beauty and chose this little known place called The Seminary at Strawberry. This venue is just north of San Francisco and was the first time we had shot here!
This is a fusion Tamil and Telugu wedding. They blended both their South Indian traditions together in this lovely morning ceremony.
Since the day started almost before sunset, we got a hotel nearby the night before so we could be closer to the action. We arrived at the top of the hill where their Mandap was being set up and dew from the night before was still covering their stage and all the chairs.
The couple arrived just a few minutes before the ceremony for a few photos. We had this amazing golden morning light which was amazing! The ceremony soon began and last a few hours. We captured a ton of wonderful images, some of them you see below.
We mostly shoot candid, but when you have a 3-4 hour long ceremony, occasionally we get the couple and family to look at the camera if for no other reason, is that we want to interact with them a little bit since it is so long! Also, we shoot thousands of images at these events, so any variety like the occasional posed shot is a good idea just because we have thousands of candids.
The day ended with their lunch and then we headed home to rest up for their reception the following evening in San Francisco.
If you want something off the beaten path with a killer view, we definitely recommend this venue!
