The day before their wedding, Diya and Atul held a small Mehndi/Haldi event in their uncle’s backyard. It was one of the first “small events” we shot after the Pandemic started.
The family did some traditional gift-giving to the groom and did some Mehndi on his hand and then the Haldi ceremony started! The family did not go easy on him!
Since it was the 4th of July, there were lots of fireworks going off in the background which was kind of cool. It added to the excitement of the Haldi ceremony.
For lighting, we used an off-camera softbox for a beautiful soft wrap-around light. We then added a small flash in the background to give separation and some visual interest. This gives the photos the beautiful dimensionality that we really like. I feel like the colors pop and the viewer feels like they are “there” because it is so crisp and beautiful.
