What an amazing finale to an unforgettable week! Shooting Jasmin and Ricky’s 5 day Punjabi Sikh Indian wedding was one we will never forget! Their reception at Mirage Ballroom in Sacramento was off the hook!
Earlier in the day I stopped by their hotel, the Hyatt Regency to capture them getting ready. Meanwhile our team shot decor at the venue and guests arriving. By the time we got to the venue, too many guests were already in the ballroom (unfortunately, this happens way too often) and so the couple did not want to go there to take photos. Instead, I saw some beautiful light outside and we took them out against a wall in the parking lot and did their shoot there!
Part of hiring a good photographer means that even when things don’t go as planned, the photographer can still get amazing shots of the couple, even if they were not in the ballroom as we had hoped for.
The reception was action packed! We had grand entrances, cake cutting, first dance, some performances, a Boliyan singer performance, then we showed our next day edit, and finally the dance floor opened! While the guests were enjoying the party, a special guest made his way to the stage and surprised everyone! It was Jazzy B, the “Crown Prince” of Bhangra! He put on a long set and carried the party almost all the way till the end! To end the night, the couple did the Co2 canons and that was a perfect ending to the over 30 hour weeklong celebration!
