We are so excited to share this gorgeous wedding on the blog! This day was absolutely perfect! Ever since we did our engagement session with Priya and Arun we have been anxiously awaiting this day!
Priya and Arun chose the beautiful Holman Ranch in Carmel as their wedding venue. I love outdoor weddings and working in natural light brings out the best of my work. I am a beach boy and when couples pick a place like Carmel for their wedding, I am more excited to shoot such weddings.Tucked away in the rolling hills of Carmel Valley, historic Holman Ranch provides a unique and memorable setting for weddings. We also love this venue because of it’s charming gardens, rustic and stunning mountain views and serenity. Priya and Arun are an extraordinary couple. They are avid runners and triathletes. Priya is crazy about dogs and they picked dogs as the theme for their wedding. They have a black labrador retriever dog who was present at the wedding to bless the happy couple.
Priya wore a beautiful traditional off-white and maroon Kanjeevaram Sari and traditional gold jewelry including Kamarband(gold waist jewelry)and Arun wore a white and maroon Sherwani. Lots of dancing, fun and dhol music led the Baraat to the ceremony venue. The Gujrathi wedding ceremony also called Vivah (Wedding) was performed, Arun and Priya faced each other, and the priest tied their garments (her saree and his dupatta) in a knot, symbolizing the sacred union. They put garlands on each other and exchanged rings. Next they held hands together and prayed to God for his blessings. Samagree (Ingredients), consisting of crushed sandalwood, herbs, sugar, rice, ghee (clarified butter), and twigs were offered to the sacred fire to seek God’s blessings for the couple. Next was the Mangal phera (circle around the sacred fire) Arun held Priya by hand and both walked three times around the sacred fire. They offered prayers while the priest chanted Vedic hymns to Gods for prosperity, good fortune, and conjugal fidelity. They touched each others heart and prayed for the union of their hearts and minds. This ended the beautiful wedding ceremony with some great post wedding couple shots.
What was unique about this wedding was the reception was immediately after the wedding ceremony. Priya wore a beautiful gold, navy blue and maroon lehenga and Arun looked dapper in his navy blue suit with a bow tie for their reception. Their was lots of dancing, toasting for the happy couple, beautiful couple portrait shots in the stunning background and the night ended with the happy couple serving ice cream to all their guests from an ice cream truck.
