Ravpreet (Ruby) and Japjit had a large Sikh wedding over Thanksgiving weekend in Bakersfield, CA. We came down from the Bay Area for four days to capture their events, which included the Mehndi, Choora, two Maiyans, two Jaagos, the wedding, and reception! Finally, two weeks later, we also flew to Detroit for their other wedding reception so they could celebrate with Japjit’s family and friends who live there.
This is the blog post from just the main wedding day! We will have future blog posts of their other events as well!
The day started bright and early at the bride’s house. Even at 6am, Ruby was pretty much ready to go by the very talented Blue Rose Artistry team from Canada! We shot some mock getting ready shots and final details before we headed out to the temple. The temple was undergoing some construction which hampered some of our wider shots of the building and our drone shots, but we made the best of it.
The temple is really nice and they had a wonderful outdoor tent where the breakfast and lunch took place. Ruby and her coordinator Lili from Inspired Karma Events, did a wonderful job planning everything and it looked gorgeous!
Once the ceremony was complete, we took photos of basically everyone that attended the wedding with the couple and then we headed to a nearby venue where we did all the bridal party shots. As is typical with weddings, we had limited time to work with everyone but we got lots of great shots and then proceeded to the bride’s house for the Doli.
Once Ravpreet had a chance to say goodbye to her family, we headed back to the Doubletree Bakersfield where the groom’s side had been staying for the week. The bride was welcomed by the groom’s family and then some games were played and the day was complete.
The following day we had their reception which we will blog next! The decor was amazing and we even played a slideshow of all the amazing wedding images so guests could enjoy it at the reception.
