We had a wonderful time photographing Reena and Romit’s traditional Hindu wedding at the San Jose Fairmont Hotel this Fall. They had an amazing weekend with three days of events.
The day began with the bride and groom getting ready in their hotel rooms. Christal from artistrybychristal.com did a magificent job on Reena’s hair and makeup while Romit got ready in about 10 minutes in his room.
Prior to the Baraat which is the procession where the groom comes in on a horse, we had the couple do a “first look” in the connecting hallway that connects the two towers. It was there Romit saw his blushing bride for the first time and then we got some amazing portraits with the couple and their bridal party.
Baraats are always a hit in downtown San Jose as tourists get to check out the action and see an Indian wedding unfold before their eyes. Almost no one can resist not taking photos of the colorful and joyful event.
The ceremony included the most important rituals in Hindu wedding traditions including Ganesh Puja, Kanyadan, Saptapadi, Sindoor, Mangalsutra, among others. What was super special was the bride was carried out in a Doli. Some of our favorite shots were during this time since I rigged an LED light inside of it so I could get off camera lighting without using flash! Pretty smart huh? 🙂
We had a wonderful photo session and then shot the amazing decor that Amrit from Anais Events put together. She always does an amazing job and makes the day much more seamless than when there is no coordinator/designer.
We did a same day slideshow that included photos from all the events and that looped while guests entered the ballroom and found their seats. The rest of the event was a big party with great speeches, food, and dancing. We cannot wait to share their highlights film with you all soon so stay tuned!
