What I love about photographing weddings are all the different types of ceremonies and different cultures we get to learn about. While we predominantly shoot a lot of Hindu and Sikh weddings, it is not often we meet a Nepali Hindu bride marrying a Sikh groom! Actually, this is our first!
Sunaena and Mandeep are super awesome and we got to spend multiple days with them capturing all their events including Mehndi, Sangeet, their Sikh ceremony, and then finally their Hindu ceremony and reception. This is the final installment of the Hindu ceremony and reception that was held at the San Mateo Marriott. A wonderful venue with an outdoor space that we are proud to be preferred vendors at this great location.
Sunaena wore a traditional Nepali wedding Saree, which is always red. She also wore amazing “real gold” jewelry. The Nepali style Hindu ceremony is very similar to the Indian Hindu ceremony with a few differences. For example, Sunaena walked around the Mandap pouring water to get the blessings and also she had her feet washed by her parents.
The ceremony went into the night and then everyone moved into the ballroom for the reception. Amazing food, speeches, and dancing went on throughout the night and we took the couple out for some night shots in front of the fountain.
We are so fortunate to work with amazing and sweet couples like Sunaena and Mandeep and we wish them the best in married life!
