Swati + Sarathi | Indian Wedding Hyatt Regency Sonoma

This amazing Indian fusion wedding, south, and east Indian states coming together was amazing! Swati is a Telgu from south India and Sarathi is Bengali from East India. This blog post is their love story that came to fruition with this amazing Sonoma County Winery Wedding!

They live in Los Angeles so we flew to LA to do their engagement shoot which was so much fun! Their short engagement film can be seen here.

This blog post is about their wedding day, the day started really early at about 4am as they do with all south Indian weddings. It was dark outside so we used artificial light to create some of the jewelry detail photos!

She had the perfect south Indian bridal hair by Artistry by Christal and flawless makeup, we got some fun signature robe shots and quickly moved on to saree pinning and getting her fully ready! Her mom helped her with some of this and we got shots of them together, this is one of the important details in the wedding photo list, bride’s parents need to be fully ready before the bride so we can get these precious shots that the bride and her parents can cherish for a lifetime.

The first look was at dawn and the perfect light helped with beautiful first look images. We did some quick portraits of the bride and groom and then proceeded to the Baraat. We split the team during this time and one photographer and videographer stayed with the bride to get more portraits and bridal party shots while the rest of the team went with the groom. Bridal party photos are sometimes necessary with a south Indian wedding because the bride changes her saree halfway between the ceremony. Swati wanted some shots with her bridal party with her first saree we got this efficiently since we were able to assign our team to specific tasks. We got some unique magmod shots with the groom and his groomsmen and some fun shots with the bride and her bridesmaids.

Baraat as always was fun with drone and gimbal for video. The beautiful wedding ceremony details with the mandap and the decorations were shot by one team while the other team covered Baraat.

We always prefer outdoor ceremonies and the weather was just perfect and the mandap was covered this is essential for all outdoor mandaps for even light on the couple during the ceremony. After the ceremony, we got some more romantic couple shots before they left to get ready for the reception.

Our Bride and groom were ready just in time for some awesome photos at golden hour, followed by family photos inside the ballroom and our team was also shooting cocktail hour at the same time.

Performances, flash mobs, father-daughter, mother-son dances, speeches, we try and get a variety of shots with all of these during the reception. Artistic as well as standard shots! The night ended with some fun open dancing!
