Linda + Stephen | Wedding Boulder Ridge by Wedgewood

For how big San Jose is, there are only like a handful of outdoor wedding venues! It’s insane.

Fortunately, Linda and Stephen picked one of the few, Boulder Ridge by Wedgewood Weddings.

Linda and Stephen heard about us through one of their friends and liked our work so they quickly booked us for their five hour event.

The bride got her dress and final details done at the venue but the groom arrived ready. To include more storytelling, I had him do some small adjustments etc so we could make it look like he also got ready there.

We set up the first look in front of the alter because it was the easiest spot to get to that the bride could wear her heels and also not get her dress dirty.

The ceremony was short and sweet, however, the sun was getting lower and going right into my lens and washing out the image so I had to choose my angles wisely and definitely rely on my lens hood to try and avoid too much stray light coming in.

For the family formals I used two off camera flashes to ensure the images would not be washed out and that I could lower the exposure so the background would not be blown out. Couples choose this venue for the view after all.

After the ceremony, the venue takes the couple and myself down to the golf course and large oak tree where we can get stunning images during sunset. These are by far my favorite shots and really made the night!

The venue catered the event and the food is quite tasty there. I recommend it. I don’t mind eating outside checking out the view either. It is a beautiful place on a warm summer night.

I shot this solo without a second person helping. If you like what you see, give Wedding Documentary a call and we would love to capture your wedding at Boulder Ridge.
